Currently, the cheapest model of the iPhone 6 (the one that is retailing with 16 GB of internal storage) comes with an exorbitant price tag of 53,990 rubles (which is roughly equal to $956). Apple stated that the company has resumed its sales in Russia, although the price had increase from39,990 rubles. One of the reason why the Cupertino tech company had halted sales was due to the ruble fluctuation.
Due to falling oil prices as well as economic sanctions against Russia, the ruble had gone down 30 percent against the U.S. dollar, making the revenue being generated in Russia, far less in terms of dollars. Besides Apple, even Samsung and its offerings have had its prices raised due to the very same reason.When the Russians are concerned, looks like imports are going to cost them a lot more.
