One of the most highly anticipated products of the year is coming from the Android camp and it is none other than the Nexus 6; a product stemming from the combined efforts of Google and Motorola. While the Nexus 6 smartphone is armed to the teeth with the latest technical specifications needed to chew through anything, the device also comes big in size and price as well.
Apart from possessing a 6 inch display (5.96 inches to be exact), the Nexus 6 has a 1440p resolution; which is an upgrade compared to the 1080p resolution found on the Nexus 5. While some consumers might complain that the crisp resolution might become a deleterious element to the overall performance and battery life of the device, Google and Motorola thought ahead of this limitation and decided to mitigate it thanks to Qualcomm’ Snapdragon 805 chipset, which runs quad core Krait processor clocked in at 2.7 GHz, not to mention a 3,220 mAh battery.
In addition to the impressive processor and battery size, the Nexus 6 also comes packing with 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 420 GPU for the mobile gaming aficionados. While there were several rumors disseminating that Google was finally going to add a microSD expansion slot to the device, Google has decided to stick to the discipline of excluding that expansion slot and instead released two capacity variants; a 32 GB one and a 64 GB one.
The 13 MP rear and 2 MP front camera will ensure that image and selfie taking qualities are not compromised but the biggest perk of owning the device is that the Nexus 6 runs Android L 5.0 fresh out of the box. As for pricing, Google and Motorola decided to take off their magnanimous mask because the off – contract price for the Nexus 6 (32 GB version) is starting from $650. Not exactly cheap, for a brand that has a reputation of releasing price / performance goods, but in light of the specifications, the high price is warranted.
The phone is available for pre order from Google Nexus website.
