Chinese smartphone companies like Xiaomi and Huawei are hitting tech giants like Samsung and Apple hard. Another company that has joined the bashing club is none other than Meizu. The Chinese firm’s M1 Note, which comes with a price friendly tag of just $160 has decided to compete with the remaining Chinese smartphone makers and attempt to usurp their position. The M1 Note strongly resembles the iPhone 5c, even though it is a much larger variant of the iPhone.

The M1 Note possess dual-SIM functionality and when we said earlier on that it is a much larger variant of the iPhone 5c, we weren’t kidding. Possessing a 5.5 inch IGZO display with a beautiful 1080p resolution, the M1 Note’s display is reinforced with Gorilla Glass 3, and a nice, beefy 3,140 mAh battery to keep the smartphone powered on. A 13 MP f/2.2 main camera coupled with a 5 MP f/2.0 front facing camera have been added for image and video taking junkies.

As for the remainder of the hardware specifications, the Meizu M1 Note possesses a 64 bit capable octa-core processor placed on a MediaTek MT6752 chipset (Cortex A53 1.7GHz processor). Additionally, the phablet sized phone is running a Mali T760 MP2 GPU, 2GB of RAM and a FDD-LTE radio for high speed wireless carrier connectivity. The only disappointing feature about the device; it is running the Android 4.4.4 OS and not the latest Google update.

Even though the device is void of a fingerprint scanner as well as a microSD slot, the company will still be taking pre-orders in China ahead of the device’s launch date, which is said to be December 30th. Alongside the 16GB version, you can also purchase a 32 GB capacity variant, which will only require you to add $30 extra.
