HTC’s Nexus 9, which is codenamed Volantis, has finally been announced by Google and with that announcement, the company has stated that pre-orders of the tablet will begin from the 17th of October. HTC’s Nexus 9 is the second product that will be running Android’s latest operating system update; the Android L 5.0 The tablet will come in two color variants, black and white and will be available to consumers in three configurations: 16 GB, which is priced at $399, 32 GB for the price of $479, and an LTE enabled 32 GB, which is the most expensive out of all the three models, will be available for a price tag of $599.
Similar to the Nexus 6, the Nexus 9 was also rumored to be possessing a microSD expansion slot but it has now been confirmed that both the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 will stick to the offering that previous Nexus devices before it were available in. The Nexus 9 boasts specifications that overshadow its smaller mobile counterpart. Apart for the lower resolution and the 2 GB of RAM, (the Nexus 9 possesses a 2048 x 1536 resolution while the Nexus 6 possesses a 2560 x 1440 resolution) the 8.9 inch Nexus 9 shines in all departments.
In addition to having the Android L OS running out of the box, the Nexus 9 runs NVIDIA’s formidable Tegra K1 chipset, which so far has been at the top of the leaderboards in terms of benchmarking results released by AnTutu. According to Google, Nexus 9’s form factor is small enough to be carried around without creating any form of encumbrance and big enough to allow the user to work on it comfortably. By no means is the Nexus 9 a cheap product and it seems like Google is slowly edging away from bringing out cost effective products belonging to the Nexus brand.
